Elders
JIM GOLDY
Elder
Jim has served as an elder at Petersville since 2009, and before that, he served as a deacon. He and his family moved to Alabama from California in 2002.
Jim is married to Laurie, and they have two children, Mark (Erica) and Michelle, and one granddaughter, Annaleigh. He loves the outdoors and boating on the Tennessee River. Jim is often seen handing out candy to the children at church and has a unique nickname for each one. He loves kids of all ages and enjoys being interactive with them.
His favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
LOUIS MCADAMS
Elder
Louis and Betty have attended Petersville since returning to North Alabama in 2002. Louis was appointed as an elder during 2006. He had served as an elder at College Ave. in Enterprise, AL for ten years before moving back to the Shoals area. Louis is a graduate of Coffee High School and Florence State College. He received an MBA from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Louis is retired from the U.S. Army and from Dyn Corp Inc. Louis and Betty have made nine mission trips to Ukraine and Romania where they assisted in establishing several churches. They have two children and six grand children. Both enjoy fishing, camping, and grand children!

GARRY PANNELL
Elder
Garry has served as an elder since 2014 and has been a member of Petersville since 1993. He has served in many different roles such as Youth Minister, Educational Director, and as a deacon. These roles prepared him spiritually to serve as an elder.
He married Sherry May Pannell in 1987, and they have one son, Joshua. Garry enjoys antique automobiles, Alabama football, and reading. He began working at Milner-Rushing Drugs in 1981 and continues to work there as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist.
His favorite verses are Philippians 2:3-4: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
BOB PARKS
Elder
Bob has attended Petersville Church of Christ since 1980 and served as elder since 1992. He married Betty McClure Parks in 1971. They have two children: Gordon (Nikki) and Allison (David). They have five grandchildren (two boys and three girls).
Bob loves the Word of God. He has been able to read through the whole Bible several times and is a graduate of the Fishers of Men course. He has two B.S. degrees, served in the U.S. Army and Alabama Army National Guard, and retired from TVA as a Power Utilization Engineer. Bob is often seen enjoying a walk at the Florence Mall or repairing old cars and motorbikes, riding dirt bikes, and building things. He also loves spending time with his family and visits them often.
His favorite verse is 2 Timothy 2:15: “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
He has made three mission trips to Mexico(2001, 2002, 2003) with the Petersville Church of Christ.
TERRY OAKLEY
Elder
Terry has attended the Petersville congregation since it was established in June of 1980. He has served as an elder for many years and teaches adult Bible classes often. He married Marsha in 1982 and they have 3 sons: Jonathan (Emily), Eric (Sarah), and Austen. They have been blessed with five grandchildren- Lily, Silas, Denton, Will, and Dean. Terry has worked for Alfa Insurance for several years as an agent. He loves spending time with family, helping others and going on mission trips.
His favorite passage in Scripture is Joshua 24:15: “And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Terry loves Petersville because it is a great place to raise a family with so many friendly and loving people.
