Our Elders

“This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of an elder, he desires a good work…”

Sam Blackmon – Sam has been an elder at Petersville for a number of years.   He served as a deacon prior to being appointed an elder.   He is Petersville’s longest serving elder.   He and his wife, Barbara have three grown children and 8 grandchildren.   Sam is retired from the bank and loan industry.   He volunteers his time between the community Center and the Volunteer Fire Department.   He also serves as co chairman for the 911 Rescue Service of Lauderdale County.

Jim Goldy – Jim and his wife, Laurie moved to our area in 2002 from the state of California.   Jim & Laurie have two grown children.   Being retired, Jim is able to spend many hours in volunteer work within the community, as well as serving many roles and heading up many great works in the congregation.   Jim has a zeal for the work and the Lord.   Jim was appointed elder in 2006 and serves the congregation well.

Terry Oakley – Terry was born and raised in Florence.   He and his wife Marsha have 3 sons and one daughter-in-law.   Terry works in the insurance field, but finds time to volunteer in his community to coach children in baseball and basketball.   He is a strong leader in the community for which he serves.   Terry served as a deacon for many years before he came an elder in 2001.

Louis McAdams – Before becoming an elder for Petersville in 2006, brother Louis served as a elder in Enterprise, Alabama, where he also served as a deacon.   Louis made a life career in the Military service before his retirement.   Louis and his wife, Betty have two grown children and 5 grandchildren.  Louis and Betty have traveled to many mission points throughout the world, teaching and preaching God’s word.

Bob Parks – Bob was born and raised in the North Alabama area.   Bob is retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority and served his country in the Military service.   Bob served as a deacon before being appointed elder in 1990.   Bob devotes many hours of volunteer service at the Community Center and the Volunteer Fire Department.   Bob and his wife, Betty have two grown children and two grandchildren.
